About Me

Experience

I have been in practice as a counsellor for over 15 years in a variety of settings which include private, business, higher education and voluntary sectors. I work with a broad range of presenting difficulties and concerns and am particularly experienced in working with loss and bereavement, difficulties with intimacy, communication, significant life changes (like retirement, becoming parents, relocation, changing career, change in relationship status etc.), anxiety, depression and chronic long-standing difficulties. I currently offer short or long-term counselling for individuals and couples from premises in central Edinburgh.

Professional Ethical Practice

As an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and COSCA (Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland), I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for The Counselling Professions and COSCA’s Statement of Ethics and Code of Practice.  I also subscribe to these organisations Complaints Procedures. Details about the ethical practice and complains procedures I subscribe to can be found at www.bacp.co.uk and  www.cosca.org.uk.

Continuing Professional Development

I meet regularly with a supervisor in order to reflect on and think about the quality of my work. This includes a review and assessment of what training opportunities would best support my ongoing professional development.
